Please Note: This answer applies to the 2022 version of “My Pal Scout or Violet Smarty Paws” that has Star and Music symbols on the ears and comes with an audio cable in the battery compartment.
Older versions include 2014 My Pal Scout or Violet (LeapFrog logo on ear and audio cable in the battery compartment) and 2009 My Pal Scout and Violet (USB cord).

1) If My Pal says, “Connect me again”: press the Power Paw until you hear My Pal say “Goodbye,” then press “Try Again” button on the Step 5 Help screen or restart the process at leapfrog.com/smartypaws
2) If the above doesn’t work: Turn the Power Switch (on battery box) OFF and ON again. (Note: If My Pal is still in its packaging, you will have to remove it from the box to access the power switch at the top of the battery box. Now press the “Try Again” button on the Step 5 Help screen or restart the process at leapfrog.com/smartypaws
