LeapPad will not completely power down, white dot remains on screen

During a normal shut down, the screen image on a LeapPad will reduce to a white dot, which will disappear in five to ten seconds.

In rare circumstances, the white dot will not disappear and the LeapPad will not fully power down.  If the LeapPad does not complete the shutdown process and the white dot remains on the screen for more than ten seconds, complete the shut down by pressing and holding the power button on the LeapPad for ten seconds.  This will fully power the LeapPad down, and it will start up normally next time you power it on.
