Tag Junior/LeapReader Junior not recognized - Updating the Driver - Windows 7, 8, 10 or Vista

Make sure the LeapFrog Connect software plug-in for Tag Junior or LeapReader Junior is installed on your computer.  You may find the free download at www.leapfrog.com/connect.

 

With the Tag Junior or LeapReader Junior turned off, plug the Tag Junior/LeapReader Junior in to a USB port on the back of your computer. Does it automatically power on? If no, the device is defective; please contact customer support.

 

If the device is powered on, click the Windows Start button.

 

In the search box that comes up, type devmgmt.msc. The Device Manager will open.

 

Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand that drop down. If the computer is correctly recognizing the Tag Junior/LeapReader Junior, you will see something like this:

 

 

 

If instead, you see an exclamation point next to Tag Junior, it may mean a driver is missing. The exclamation point would look something like this:

 

 

  

If you see the exclamation point, right click and select properties.

 

On the Driver tab, click Update Driver

 

On the next screen, select "Browse my Computer" for driver software

 

In the Search for hardware in this location box, type or paste the following address:

 

 

On 32 bit computers  -  C:\Program Files\LeapFrog\LeapFrog Connect\TagUSBDrivers\Vista

 

On 64 bit computers -  C:\Program Files (x86)\LeapFrog\LeapFrog Connect\TagUSBDrivers\Vista

 

 

 

And click "Next"

 

The wizard should install the driver
