How do I know what state my LeapBand pet is in and what are the different states in which my pet can be?

The icon in the upper left corner of the screen lets you know the state of your pet. Depending on the pet's state, the child may have to satisfy their pet's needs, which include:
Energetic
Playful
Thirsty
Messy
Hungry
Sleepy
Restless
