ZoneAlarm Anti-Virus software causing difficulty syncing LeapPad or Leapster Explorer to computer

Please follow the below steps to add two files used by LeapFrog Connect to the list of ZoneAlarm Antivirus exceptions and ZoneAlarm Firewall trusted applications.

 

START THE ZONEALARM WINDOW:

 

Open the ZoneAlarm window by clicking its shortcut on your desktop or its icon in your desktop's system tray:

 

Click the "View Details" button in the Antivirus box or the Firewall box. It will switch to a tabbed view.

 

 

ADDING FILES USED BY LEAPFROG CONNECT TO THE LIST OF ZONEALARM ANTIVIRUS EXCEPTIONS:

 

1. Go to the ANTIVIRUS tab, then click the "Settings" button:

 

 

 

Click the "Exceptions" link, in the left navigation pane:

 

 

 

2. Click the "Add" button:

 

 

 

In the "Select type" drop-down list, select "On-Access Scan":

 

 

 

3. Click the "Browse" button to open a navigation window.

Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Leapfrog\LeapFrog Connect, select the LeapFrogConnect.exe file, and click the "Open" button:

 

 

4. Repeat the same operation with the CommandService.exe file:

Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Leapfrog\LeapFrog Connect, select the CommandService.exe file and click the "Open" button:

 

 

 

5. Clicking the "Open" button will add each file to the list of the ZoneAlarm Antivirus exceptions

 

 

 

6. Repeat adding the same two files but this time, select them with the "Trusted Process" option.

In the end, you will have each file listed twice:

 

 

 

 

 

ADDING FILES USED BY LEAPFROG CONNECT TO THE LIST OF ZONEALARM FIREWALL TRUSTED APPLICATIONS:

 

1. Go to the FIREWALL tab, click the "XX programs secured" link (XX represent the number of applications present in your particular computer installation):

 

 

 

The two applications, LeapFrogConnect.exe and CommandService.exe, should already be present in the list.

For each of them:

2. Right click the bars in the "Trust Level" column, then select "Super".

For example, for CommandService.exe:

 

 

 

3. Right click the question mark icon in each of the remaining columns and select "Allow":

For example, for CommandService.exe:

 

 

 

For the example of LeapFrogConnect.exe:

 

 

 

4. Click OK to finish.

 

COMPLETION:

Your ZoneAlarm configuration is now complete and the ZoneAlarm settings window can be closed.

Be sure to Restart your computer to ensure all settings are applied.
