How do I unlock new pets on the LeapBand?

There are a total of eight pets that may be unlocked on the LeapBand. A new pet can be unlocked every four days. The paw mark on the LeapBand's home screen indicates how close you are to unlocking your next pet. Each day one space on the paw may be filled in by earning joules. A new pet will be unlocked when the paw is completely filled in.
